HONORING OUR VETERANS

My father was in the national guard, my great uncle Franklin Sigler, awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor. The best way I’ve found to honor them is serving the people of my district as their county legislator. Our veterans have given us our freedom. Our freedom to live how we like, not how a far-off government or dictator would like. When they are injured, we need to take care of them. When their families back home are struggling, we need to invest in them. When the children of service members need help, help must be on the way. Just as it’s their duty to protect our nation, us, it’s our duty to protect them. We will evaluate and improve our re-entry workforce programs. Where there is not a veteran liaison in the county, we will add one as we did in Tompkins County while I’ve been a legislator. We will continue to bring health services to where veterans live, rather than forcing them to travel to far off veterans affairs hospitals.
